Return to RADIO! Gocha Maze 6/11 and 6/18 2012

Hi everyone! It's been a long long long time ^^

Banana came back to the radio a few weeks ago BUT, this Bird was away and/or too busy to listen for a while.
However, thanks to tetsuowl and asuka_tsuzuki, I've got files and now it's time to catch up!

First, a Gocha double-header!

TETSUYA is back!
They're all in for the first time in ages and welcome TETSUYA back.
Banana (in fake accent): HELLO PEOPLE OF JAPAN!

Of course, they ask about the world tour.
Joshima: Your passport must be full!
TETSUYA: Oh yeah, I went to 10 countries...

Also, Bobby followed him to Singapore for the live.
TETSUYA: Yeah, I was surprised you really came.

Apparently Bobby had a hard time getting to and from the venue, but he had a lot of fun and says the live itself was AMAZING.
TETSUYA: I saw you with some cute girls, too.
Bobby: No no no, I wasn't!

TETSUYA then says they had dinner together. Bobby admits he took leftovers with him.
TETSUYA: What, you took the waitress home?
Bobby: NO I took food home.

Joshima asks if all the members were at the restaurant but Banana says he was tired and doesn't remember.
Bobby: They were! I said hi to all of them.
TETSUYA: Oh yeah? I don't remember. Well, I remember hyde was there.

They ate at a Chinese restaurant in Singapore, and it was both fancy and a bit weird.
Bobby says it was great but Banana doesn't believe him. He thinks it was weird because there were too many people so the quality couldn't have been that good.

Also, Banana learned that Japan and Korea are the only countries where starting a concert at 6 or 7 pm is normal. In other places it's 8pm or later.
Everyone's surprised to hear this.

TETSUYA: That means by the time we finish, shower, and get out to eat, it's already 11 pm.
Then he has a thought.
TETSUYA: Oh I know. Next time, I'll buy the whole restaurant.
Bobby: I'm sure a lot of restaurants would stay open all night for L'Arc!

Then, TETSUYA brings out some souvenirs. Even for Bobby 8D
It's a toy from USS (Universtal Studios Singapore) from Shrek, that reminds Banana of Bobby.
Bobby: Are you sure it's not from Osaka? (Birdnote: The Japan version of this theme park is in Osaka, and a live was there too, so it's suspicious)

Banana also brought a Louis Vuitton bag, and decides to give it to Joshima.
Joshima: It's so small.
Turns out it's not really a bag ... but rather chocolate that LOOKS like a bag.

The bag-chocolate is from Indonesia, not Paris like the hosts first thought ^^
He found at a shop near his hotel.
Of course, it was the fanciest hotel in Jakarta. He thinks.

He also brought some tshirts for them to choose from.
Bobby: You bought the entire shop, didn't you? Wow.
The tshirts are from Hawaii, where the final was.

They describe them as they look - rhinestones and coconuts feature prominently.
Joshima then gets the idea to offer two tshirts as prizes for listeners! And he describes how the contest will work.
(Sorry everyone, it's way too late for us to enter the contest)

Song time!
- Bye Bye -

Since Banana is here, they want to hear all about the World Tour instead of reading fanmail.

TETSUYA: It all started in Hong Kong. There was a roast pig at this ceremony, before the concert started. They roasted it and did some kind of prayer..
Bobby: So the tour would go well?
TETSUYA: Yeah like that.
Nao has seen similar things for theatre. But L'Arc's was done Chinese-style.

Bobby: Did you have trouble in Indonesia? I heard they canceled Lady Gaga right after you guys. It must be tough to go there.
TETSUYA: Why did they cancel her? She's too controversial?
They discuss Lady Gaga for a bit and conclude that L'Arc isn't as provocative as her.
Bobby: But you are provocative, the way you throw bananas!
TETSUYA: My bananas!
Bobby: And lollipops!
Joshima: Do you always do that?
TETSUYA: Yes.

Joshima asks how it went the first day, and Banana answers that he's used to throwing Bananas in HK since he's been there before.

Next, they went to Thailand, where it was 38 degrees and significantly hotter than HK had been.
They didn't have any big problems, though.

Joshima wants to know the hidden secrets of the show, but TETSUYA says there aren't any secrets to tell :3

The only thing he can think of is gossiping about Bobby's activities with the women in Singapore, which Bobby denies happened.

Joshima: Did you go to any good bars?
TETSUYA: Yeah, in Singapore! Wow, all my stories are about Singapore.

He describes a "night safari" where you go through a zoo at night and see all the nocturnal animals. It's lit enough to see but not enough to bother the animals. Banana had fun doing that. Except...
TETSUYA: It was hot!

He describes it more, saying how there's no fences, only ditches the animals can't cross.
Also, he loves the elephants!
TETSUYA: They're so cute! I love how they move~ I imitated them with my own elephant.
Then we hear a smack and TETSUYA laughs in mock-pain :p

Next, Joshima asks which place was the most impressive. It's hard to answer, but Banana decides that, as far as the lives themselves go, the most impressive was NYC.

TETSUYA: It was the biggest venue, and we were the first Japanese band to ever play there.
Bobby: Singapore wasn't exactly small either.
TETSUYA says it fit about 10 000 people, and had lots of floors.

Joshima: How about London?
TETSUYA: London! It's the birthplace of rock! They're a tough crowd.
Bobby: It's not that, it's just the British personality. Even when they're impressed they don't show it, so it's hard to say how they really feel.
However, London was the smallest venue on the tour.

Joshima: That must be fun in its own way. A new kind of atmosphere.

TETSUYA: Four years ago when we went to Paris for the first time, they told us we'd never get any fans to come to London. But actually this time, it sold out. And of course we went back to Paris, and we went to New York too. It was great.

Bobby says he saw the news from Paris about L'Arc, and confesses he news-stalks L'Arc ^^

As for Hawaii, it wasn't his first time there but it was the first L'Arc live to be held there.
The concert was outside and a lot of fans were in swimsuits.
Bobby: I wanna go to Hawaii!!

There were two concerts in Hawaii, but one of them was FC-only while the other was sold normally.
TETSUYA: I wore a lei.

He says they did a lot of songs that the fans wanted, by picking them out of a hat XD
Everyone is impressed.
Joshima: What if you can't remember how the songs go?? At least vocalists can use printed lyrics, I guess.

Joshima then reads a news piece about L'Arc~en~Ciel day having been declared by the mayor of Honolulu.
TETSUYA: Yeah, we had a little ceremony with the mayor, and we got an official certificate and everything.

Impressive L'Arc is Impressive.

Bobby: So will you go back to Honolulu every year?
TETSUYA: If they invite us, yeah.
They all laugh at this.

Joshima: Didn't you come back to Ebisu Liquidroom in the middle of the tour?
TETSUYA: Yeah, it was tiny! But it was a label event and everyone on the label played.

He explains that he went twice, once as L'Arc and once as his solo.
Each live was about 17 songs, so it was a real live for L'Arc.
They had a day all to themselves, while TJBs shared with a few other bands for a shorter show.
The audience were all winners of the 777 drawing, as we know.

Bobby then says TETSUYA lost weight.
TETSUYA: Eh? WellI guess it makes sense. I ran around a lot, and I sweated. And it was tiring.
Joshima: What did you eat?
TETSUYA: Chinese, Italian, and Japanese food.

He got to go home between shows only long enough to re-pack his suitcases, really.
The most exhausting live was Jakarta, he says.

Joshima: Oh yeah, you had Jakarta and Seoul one day after the other. That must have been rough.
TETSUYA: Exactly. We had to leave in the middle of the night, and got to Seoul by morning. Then there was a press conference. I think I was pretty loopy for that conference. It was a rough day.

Bobby asks if it's easier to avoid jet lag when you travel at night but Banana says he was just tired. Plus, he couldn't get a Japanese airline.
Joshima: Was it a direct flight?
TETSUYA : It was for us, but the staffs had to transfer in Hong Kong. But still, I couldn't sleep very well in it.

- Song -

The world tour talk continues!

Bobby went to Singapore with his manager but he is sad because he really wanted to go with Nao ^^
Joshima remembers him inviting her a lot. The others laugh at Bobby's sadness.
Nao: I'm sorry, I had to work!
Bobby: You could have rescheduled it! (Bird notices Bobby is picking up some Kansai-isms here)

TETSUYA: She just didn't want to look at you for a whole trip 8D

Nao apologizes but then says she at least got to go to the Tokyo lives!
Bobby went to that too, but not with Nao.
TETSUYA: She avoided you in Tokyo too!
Banana laughs as Bobby complains that they were at the same concert but she still wouldn't hang out with him.
Joshima says it counts as together since they WERE at the same place at the same time.

Joshima: I remember you talked about going when we talked about it on this show.
Nao: I just said I'd see him at the concert, not that we'd go together! I had work to do that morning so I went with my manager.
Bobby: But I could have gone to pick you up! At home!

Their seats were pretty close to each other but they didn't take the same entrance so they never ran into each other.
Bobby ended up going with his brother and another friend, who were visiting Japan at that time. Now they are both L'Arc fans 8D

TETSUYA thanks them both for coming.

Joshima: Does it feel like a relief when you come back to Japan?
TETSUYA: Sort of, but doing lives overseas is fun for me because they scream so much more. We can hear them shriek all day. Japanese people are too shy to do that, and we're used to their voices anyway.

Bobby also comments on how different countries have different attitudes.
He thought the girls overseas jumped too much. But in a good way.
The guys all laugh at what Bobby is implying there.

Joshima asks if all the countries could sing along even though the lyrics are in Japanese, and TETSUYA (of course!) replies that they know all the lyrics to all the songs.

TETSUYA: In fact, in Jakarta, the crowd sang so loud it was hard to hear hyde.
Joshima: You could think of it as a stadium full of hydes.
TETSUYA: They're so amazing that the lives in Japan don't seem like enough anymore.

He also says that now, he's goofier on stage because the fans in Japan aren't reactive enough compared to everywhere else. So he's goofier to make them react more.

TETSUYA: They're so excited that we can tell it will be a good concert, before the concert actually starts!

Joshima asks about other famous guests to the lives.
TETSUYA: There were a lot.
Bobby: Oh, I saw DAIGO there. And like, 20 celebrities.
TETSUYA: That's not a lot.
Bobby: That's just who I saw directly.
Joshima: So there were more than 20?? But, you didn't see Nao.
Bobby: She must have been hiding from me.

She insists she was just too busy to stick around before and after the show.

- Song - L'Arc song requested by Bobby: anata -

Bobby is all emotional about anata, especially since he's never heard it on the radio before.
He squees about how it felt to hear the crowd sing it at the concerts.
Bobby: How could anyone NOT know this song?? Everybody sang it, even in Singapore.
TETSUYA: Yeah, we got the crowd to sing it everywhere. It was very emotional.

He explains how it was used as the opening, while Bobby fanboys and Joshima Ehhs.
Joshima: I can't help but wonder what the Bobby version of this would sound like.
They laugh about Bobby singing along and continue to squee about how wonderful it is for the fans at the concerts.

TETSUYA: This song is 10 years old, or more, and it's not a single, but still all the fans know it.

Lastly, Joshima and Nao go through the details of the tshirt giveaway by which some lucky listeners could win the prizes TETSUYA brought back from Hawaii. TETSUYA even agrees to autograph the tshirts.
(Again, it's too late for us to enter)

They have to stop Bobby from stealing it XD
TETSUYA does the autographing right there so they can post a picture on the website.

Bobby can't read Banana's signature, so Banana jokes that he signed it "Bobby" or "Bon Jovi" ;p

In closing, they joke about how much Shrek and Bobby resemble each other.

And now, one for for the catch up:

Everyone is still happy that TETSUYA is back.
He asks if they had any special guests while he was away.
Turns out Atsushi (from PakuTama) filled in one week, but Nao didn't like him so he didn't come back XD

Nao: He described his perfect date to me and I didn't like it. We're incompatible.

It comes down to Nao not wanting to have two meals in one day with the same person. Or something.

Joshima: She gets mad if he goes to pick her up to early.
TETSUYA: I see.

Banana agrees that some things are just crazy.
TETSUYA: Like going to a concert together overseas!
Bobby: I feel targetted. But it's OK if it's L'Arc right?
They laugh and agree that exceptions can be made for L'Arc.

TETSUYA: So you were OK without me.
They insist that they were NOT OK without him and he can't leave again. ^^

Bobby still wants Nao to go to a concert with him though XD
Nao explains that she only went to the live in Tokyo because -TETSUYA- invited her, not because Bobby was going too.
Poor Bobby 8D;;

There is a bit of confusion on who invited who, but in any case Nao is not interested in going on a date, just on going to the concerts.
Nao: I would have gone to see L'Arc even if no one invited me.
Bobby: Does that mean I'm an idiot for inviting you?
No one answers, so they all laugh 8D
And Bobby Cries 8D

Nao then tells TETSUYA about how she listens to the album he gave her all the time, and it really wasn't because Bobby invited her that she went to the live. Banana is glad to hear that but Bobby is not.

Next, Joshima recaps the tshirt giveaway from last week.

Song time!
- LOOKING FOR LIGHT -

Fanmail time!

1. About June weddings from a fan who went to a wedding where the toasts were made by drawings name at random, so the speakers had no idea what to say and it got explosive as the speeches revealed stories about the groom and sex workers. Have the hosts ever been to a wedding like that?

No, they have not.
....
They laugh 8D
And Ehh.

It turns into a lesson for Bobby on wedding customs in Japan, and the parties that go on before hand.
Bobby is surprised to learn that it's only men who go to such places.
(Bird would like to note that this isn't true; though we can't blame Nao for not correcting the guys here)

TETSUYA says he doesn't like that sort of thing, though he doesn't deny trying it out.
He and Joshima agree that paying for sex is too direct, and therefore not fun.
They'd rather go to bars and see what happens.

In any case, they all agree that it's not something to talk about at weddings.. because all the relatives are around to hear about it.

Joshima then asks Bobby if he ever made a speech at a wedding, and he says yes, but he was careful only to talk about good things.
They agree that the people in the fanletter wedding must have been very drunk.

Joshima tells about a wedding he went to where a friend of his, the Crasher, got into the tequila and things got messy.
Then, this year, the tequila friend got married so everyone is hiding the tequila.
Joshima: I couldn't go, but I think they had a great time.

Joshima laments that all his friends his own age are married now.

Bobby then tells about a wedding he went to in South Africa, where the ceremony was crashed by an ostrich.
Bobby: The ostrich sat down and laid an egg right there. Just as they were exchanging rings.
This story supposedly made the news.

As for Nao, she just got invited to her first wedding earlier that year, by a fellow actress marrying a non-celebrity.
Or well, her first one as an adult. She might have gone to some as a kid, but this isn't the same.
Joshima is glad to hear that she wasn't obligated to go, because those are awkward.

Joshima: When you're obligated to go to a bunch of weddings, things get a big tight. Money wise.

Bobby then explains that in other countries, you don't give cash as a wedding present like you do in Japan. You give presents.
Apparently, in some countries, people even give toilet paper at weddings.

TETSUYA: Isn't Japanese toilet paper great?? I can always tell the difference when I'm travelling.
Bobby: Japanese people are sensitive that way.

They ponder that for a moment, then laugh.

Next letter!

2. About the growing number of men who cook, on TV. This fan's dad got into cooking because of this trend. Do the guys on the show cook? Does Nao's dad cook?

Well no, Nao's dad does not cook. She thinks he can't.

Bobby however, does cook. He even used to work at a restaurant.
TETSUYA: What kind of food?
Bobby: Ethnic cuisine.

TETSUYA suddenly remembers seeing him, as he went to that restaurant and saw a black guy behind the counter - at a time when Bobby was the only black person working there. Of course, this was 13 years ago.
TETSUYA swears he ate there.

TETSUYA: Ehhh~ So that was you!
Bobby: It was hard, having to yell IRASSHAIMASE all the time. (That's a greeting to every customer who enters a shop)

Bobby describes a few of the dishes he made, but I can't catch most of them.
They land on the spring rolls and how hard it was to make that.

Then Joshima comments that Nao looks extra pretty lately. TETSUYA agrees.
They suspect she's in love, and Bobby gets all sad ^^
She doesn't answer though.

Nao ends up telling them that she doesn't like ethnic food :p
Except pasta. Because everyone likes pasta.
However, she doesn't like tomatoes. Bobby laugh-cries at how much he can't please her XD

Song time!
- TOKIO song-

Next is a Rakugo session by Nao!

To summarise (because the humour is lost in translation) - it's about the rainy season and umbrellas.
Specifically, a talking umbrella. Who is her superhero protecting her from the rain.
She portrays the umbrella like a classic samurai archetype ^^
She takes the umbrella all the way to "Gocha Maze station" then forgets him on the train, so she can't talk to her umbrella anymore.
It ends with a pun on birthday song and rainy season.

This was also a SUBTLE reminder that he birthday is soon!
TETSUYA then gives her a Union Jack cushion as a present 8D
It sounds like he just happened to have it with him... (Wonder if it's the one he got from ken?)

Anyway, she's 22! Congrats!
Bobby is sad that he wasn't able to impress her more than TETSUYA.

He thinks for a bit and then decides to offer her a special African Birthday Song!
Nobody understands it 8D
But they laugh with him.

Bobby then tries to teach some sentences to the other members, but he can't remember exactly how to say "Happy Birthday"
(Bird didn't catch which language it is, sorry)

As he goes through sentences, TETSUYA contributes "Do you want to eat my Banana?" in Chinese. (Why not.)
TETSUYA: How do you say "Do you want to eat my Banana?"
Joshima: That has nothing to do with Nao's birthday.

At long last they get around to singing her the birthday song.
Or rather, Bobby sings it 8D
In serious voice, even!

TETSUYA: Aren't you getting a little too close to her?
Nao: He keeps creeping up, it's scary.
Nao thanks him for the song but that's all.

TETSUYA: You should sing it to her Marylin Monroe style!
Bobby then does exactly that. Or well, he tries. (it really doesn't work.)

TETSUYA: Nao is scared, now.
Bobby: No, she's just emotionally overwhelmed.
Nao: Yes, that's it.

Joshima then changes the subject... to umbrellas 8D;

Nao explains that she got the idea for her rakugo by wondering why umbrellas don't seem to change over time.
Bobby surprises them all by describing other types of umbrellas that aren't seen in Japan - like ones that are actually hats.

Joshima has seen some interesting ones on the Internet.. but he uses a standard umbrella anyway.
Bobby thought compact umbrellas were for girls but the others disagree.

Nao says she hasn't got an umbrella in her bag, which makes Joshima wonder what the big thing in her bag is...
Turns out it's her phone full of straps!
She doesn't even remember where they all come from.

It says GBO on it, and Joshima and TETSUYA had a hard time figuring out how to pronoucne that.
Bobby tries to help them, and hillarity ensues XD
(Seriously, listen to the file - there's a solid minute of Bobby and TETSUYA going "GBO")

Song time!
- Something from the Tribute Album -

When we get back, TETSUYA is telling the others about how "tsu" doesn't exist in Korean so when he's in Korea, people call him "TECHUYA" XD

In closing, they go over the tshirt giveaway one more time and Nao reads out the contact infos.

That's it!

I'll back with more radio very soon!

IRON MAIKEN (translate)

huhuhuhu.... dari dulu pengen ma ne buku... walo bukan biography paling nggak lumayan buat tau dalem2nya Ken chan, hohohoho....
domo arigatou deh buat Ando Kun  yang dah ngasi ne link
jadi paling nggak buat ngasi gambaran soal isi IRON MAIKEN.... (habis IRON MAIKEN nya ndiri tulisan kanji, bukan romanji, apalagi pake english, wokwokwokwok)
langsung deh, check it out
ah, iya... covernya kan yg ini

IRON MAIKEN – 100 questions for metal gentle ken

This is the translation of the 100 Questions segment that is distributed through ken’s book, IRON MAIKEN. The book itself is a collection of interviews by ken where he is questionning other artists. Only this 100 questions segment contains questions for ken himself.
The original version uses many different font sizes for emphasis, so I have tried to reproduce that, within reason. Some questions don’t make much sense; some answers make even less sense.
Enjoy!
BEGIN
1 – What did you have for supper yesterday? Please tell us the menu.

SUSHI

at work.
I got take-out with a manager who was working late. There were three of us so I got food for three, but then more people came, so I only got to eat maybe 0.3 portion’s worth.

2 – Gold or silver, which do you prefer? Also, why?
It’s best to have BOTH, isn’t it? I used to have one, a flashy necklace with both in it. I really wanted to wear gold, but silver goes more with this kind of music, you know.

3 – When you brush your teeth, where do you start?
I have a tendency to only brush my top left teeth, so I NEED TO PRACTISE BRUSHING MY TEETH! These days, I have a brush with a thread that goes between the teeth, so you know I’m doing it right.

4 – Which shoe do you put on first?
I’m bad at running jumps. Um, I just put on whichever shoe is closest to my feet when I get to them, I gotta get better at making either the left or the right foot get there first.

5 – Have you ever smelled your own socks? When did you last do it?
Well, my body is kinda stiff, so I CAN’T SNIFF THEM.

6 – How do you sleep?
Lately, ON MY SIDE. If you meant clothing, I wear super-thin pyjamas. I’m looking for good ones I can use in winter.

7 – Why do heavy metal people have long hair?
To alleviate their manliness. Or it could be so that a small movement will look like they’re moving a lot more.

8 – Please write three words that represent the image of metal in your mind.
BLACK. LEATHER. Wristband. (I almost wrote NOTEBOOK.)

9 – Have your arms ever stiffened up while you were playing guitar? If so, please tell us how it went.
In lives when I play the drums, my arms get sore and then I have to go back to guitar, so I’ve had to play guitar like that, with stiff arms. That reminded me of THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED STANDING UP.

10 – What do you like about your body?
My fingers and arms are long, it’s easy to play guitar.

11 – What do you dislike about your body?
I can’t do meilomancy. (1)

12 – If you were French, what would your name be?
PATRASCHE! That’s French, right? But I don’t want to be Patrasche. (2)

13 – If you could switch places with someone for just one day, who would you pick?
CRAYON SHIN CHAN. Naive is good, right?

14 – If you became invisible, what’s the first thing you would do?
I’d probably go outside, but since no one else could see me I’d have to WATCH OUT FOR CARS.

15 – What smells do you like?

SWEET SMELLS! ♥

16 – What smells do you hate?
Smells that make me go “I definitely don’t wanna eat that.”

17 – What texture do you like ?
Sooooft~ Squishy, like jelly. And melty and gooey, too.

18 – What texture do you hate?
THORNY and SPIKY. Oh and you know that one you should never touch, like SUPER STICKY.

19 – What do you think about when you pick out your clothes?
I don’t check the washing label, but I look for tough stuff that looks washable .

20 – What’s the most important point to check when picking out a new guitar?

SOUND!

Basically, if it sounds good, it’ll look good too.

21 – You picked up a kitten. What will you name it?
PATRASCHE probably isn’t a good name. It’s too dogish.

22 – You picked up a turtle. What will you name it?
I’m not adopting a TURTLE.

23 – When you get home and walk through the front door, what’s the first thing you see?
GUNDAM KYRIOS.

24 – Is there anything you want to get rid of?
Even though there’s lots, I don’t know what to say. Oh, maybe chargers I don’t use anymore.

25 – You start your own heavy metal band. What do you call it?
I’d use the member’s initials. You know, like KAT-TUN did.

26 – You’re a reporter being sent to the Beijing Olympics. What events do you cover?
The Olympic Village.

27 – Is it ever a bother, having such long legs?

It is when I have to ride a tiny train or bus.

28 – If you were going to get plastic surgery, what would you fix?
My SKIN and HAIR.

29 – If you had 5 000 000 yen to spend on a present for 50 000 fans, what would you do?
Take them CAMPING in the countryside. The campsite could stay open all year!

30 – Think back to the time when you admired metal the most. Name one song that best fits that time.
ROCK HARD RIDE FREE by JUDAS PRIEST.

31 – “Dumb”, “Stupid”, “Idiot”, “Moron”; which hurts you the most?
If I could be hurt by things like that, I couldn’t live.

32 – “You’re the worst”, “I don’t believe this,” “Stop,”; at what point in your life were you most hurt by these words?
If I were ever hurt like that, I couldn’t live.

33 – What’s your favourite karaoke song?
BRINGIN’ ON THE HEARTBREAK by DEF LEPPARD.

34 – If you became a doctor, which specialization would you pick? Also, tell us why.
Plastic surgery? To help people be beautiful.

35 – Tell us a useful trick you’ve learned to do by training your fingers to play guitar so fast. If you don’t have one, please make one up.
I CAN WIPE MY BUTT WITH MY LEFT HAND.
In stressful times, it’s good training to do this with my left hand. I play very fast, so of course I wipe fast, too.

36 – If you became a teacher, which subject would you pick?

VISUAL ARTS. POTTERY.

37 – When are you glad to like metal? Please give a specific example.
When I get to make a book. (This book).
When I’m lonely or something, I play some metal and it passes the time quickly.

38 – Which three metal albums would you bring to a deserted island?
Vandenberg (Myth of the Netherlands) by VANDENBERG; Defenders of the Faith by JUDAS PRIEST; Heaven and Hell by BLACK SABBATH.

39 – Which three metal albums would you give to an alien?
If I got to go to space, I’d care more about enjoying the experience.

40 – Please name three foods that match your image of metal.
Don’t push it.
Hamburgers, hijiki (3), beef stroganoff.

41 – What’s your ring tone?
It’s

DODODODODODODODOOOOOOOO~

42 – If you had to play a very fast song first thing in the morning, what would it be?
Right now, TOO LATE by Vandenberg.

43 – If you couldn’t smoke anymore, what would you chew on during shows?

Something soft.

44 – What’s your secret hobby?
Washlets. (4)

45 – Please reveal one of your secrets.
Didn’t I just do that?

46 – Please name your three favourite dams around the world.

HOOVER DAM, KUROBE DAM, MIBORO DAM.

47 – If you were reincarnated as a dog, what kind of dog would you be? Also, what kind of human would you want to live with?
An easygoing DOBERMAN.
Anyone’s fine as long as they feed me.

48 – Name the metal musicians you most want to have a jam session with.
Seeshon, sesshion, s-chon, setsshion, SESSION!(5)
Wow, that was hard to type. I had to fix it five times.

49 – You’re playing a guitar solo, then your back starts to itch, and you really, really need to scratch it. What do you do?
Shake the guitar around, use the strap to SCRATCH myself.

50 – Mohawk or dreadlocks. Which is worse?

DREADLOCKS.

They take effort, right?

51 – Policewoman, nurse, flight attendant. Which would you prefer to cosplay?
I’ve already done the policewoman one.

52 – Write a 5-7-5 haiku using the words heavy metal. (No need for seasonal words.)
Even still today
My heart is penetrated
by Heavy Metal

53 – How do you always manage to look so young?

NATURALLY?

It’s because I play guitar.

54 – If you didn’t have guitar, what would you have?
Time to play with my friends.

55 – How much of a “ken model guitar” is actually done by you?
Um, you realize that I don’t cut the wood myself or anything, right? It’s not “made by ken”, it’s “ken model”. That said :

100%!

56 – For some reason, you have to do a cover of a heavy metal song. As a guitarist, which song would you pick?
Too Late by VANDENBERG.

57 – Earthquake alert! If you could only take one thing with you, what would it be?

WOAH! EARTHQUAKE!

I’ve never had to run from one, but I always make sure to keep a flashlight nearby. I haven’t turned it on in years, though, I should go check it.

58 – If there were no time limit, how many bowls of wanko soba do you think you could eat?
Considering how I was doing before, probably 30?

59 – How do you like your eggs? With sauce? Soy sauce?

PLAIN.

Lately, yeah.

60 – If you became a salaryman, what kind of work would you do?
I dunno. My flashlight is working.

61 – Who is your favourite anime character?
Crayon Shin-chan.
Most of the time, I know exactly what he’s going through.

62 – Leggings or spats. Which do you dislike more?
LEGGINGS -> OLD SPATS
See, I saw that in my dictionary three months ago.

63 – You’re all alone in the entire world….. At a time like that, which metal song would you play?
Fast as a Shark by ACCEPT

64 – What do you find yourself buying at convenience stores?

CHOCOLATE

This question reminded me that I just bought some chocolate, so I went to have a bite.

65 – You have potatoes, carrots, onions, eggs, and ham. What kind of meal would you make with that?
Ham? That sucks. It’d be better with mince. I’ll make an OMLETTE.

66 – What can you cook well?
I melt butter in a frying pan, put in a salt-and-peppered STEAK, then FRY it in wine and serve with a little soy sauce. It’s great!

67 – You’re alone by the sea at twilight in summer. Pick a metal song that suits the situation.
Suffer Me by ALCATRAZZ.

68 – What do you like in women’s fashion?
Ah, there’s this skirt I’ve hardly ever seen. I wanna see it COSPLAYED.

69 – Do you use emoticons in your emails? What’s your top 3?
I hardly ever use them.
When I do, it’s HEARTS and SMILEY FACE.

70 – What do you say when you answer the phone?

“Hello.”

Or I just wait for the other person to talk.

71 – Please name the song that made you realize the wonders of metal.
There wasn’t really a “Eureka!” moment, I just somehow got into it.
It’s like learning to ride a bike; you don’t think about the training wheels.

72 – How do you get rid of cockroaches?
I grab the nearest can of spray or mousse (even if it’s not meant for killing bugs) and SPRAY IT TO HELL.

73 – Do you ever practise flicking picks into the audience?
Lately, yeah.
In big places, there’s a gap between me and the crowd, so sometimes it fails.

74 – Have you ever headbanged so much it made your head spin?
Making yourself DIZZY is the whole point.

75 – You’ve broken a bone and are in the hospital. What get-well present would make you happiest?

A HUMAN INTERSECTION.

76 – Do you think it’s possible for men and women to be friends?
I want to think so, but I honestly don’t know.

77 – Without thinking, write a love confession from a girl.
If it’s not from someone I like, then maybe “I’ve got more confidence than you think ♥ ” or something.

78 – What kind of clothes make you go “I can’t wear this anymore, ever again,” yet you can’t bring yourself to throw them out?
SPOTTED and STRIPED fur coats.

79 – Have you ever bought any artists’ metal T-shirts?
I HAVEN’T. I bought a pouch once, though.

80 – What do you put in your miso soup?
Wakame and fu. (6)

81 – Right after leaving your house, you step into dog droppings. What do you do next?
Go look for a SPRINKLER.

82 – “When this is being served, I can eat three servings!”. What is ‘this’?
As long as it’s not fried, it can be anything.

83 – You’re walking down the street at night when you hear footsteps behind you… Is someone following you? What do you do?
That would suck.

84 – Please describe the perfect situation for listening to heavy metal.
When pedalling extra-hard on a bicycle, and at bed time.

85 – Why are there so many metal subgenres?
It’s all about the heaviness, everyone’s got their own preferences, right. When I first got into it, there weren’t so many genres…

86 – Metal fashion basics. From head to toe, tell us what the requirements are.
What I had was shoulder-length hair, kinda wavy. Long T-shirt, denim jacket, tight jeans, pointed boots, and necklaces.

87 – Why do metal bands change members so violently?
Cause they get bored?
I dunno.

88 – You’ve got to play air guitar. What metal song would you play.

I DON’T WANNA.

89 – What did you play at when you were a kid.

I FISHED FOR CATS.

It’s a new kind of thing where you go fishing at the river but then you take it to a spot where cats might be. Never did catch a cat, though.

90 – What has been the most surprising thing about living in Tokyo?
The way people get take-out so casually.

91 – Name an idol you used to like.
Matsuzaka Keiko.

92 – The pyramids, Machu Picchu, the plates of Nazca. Which do you think is most mysterious?

THE PYRAMIDS

I guess.
I don’t know much about Machu Picchu, but Nazca seems like something pretty doable if you just work hard, right?

93 – Which comedian would you like to have on your side?
OOKI KODAMA.
I don’t mind just seeing him up close.

94 – What do you think of the people who bought this book? Give them a message!
I wonder where you’re planning to read it. Will you read it twice?

95 – What’s your favourite kind of sushi?
Onion and tuna rolls. Temaki or regular maki, either one works.

96 – A girl who looks just like you has just appeared. What do you say to her?!
Um~ Can I get a picture with you?

97 – If you were going to be the head of a company, what would you use as a company motto?
Give and Take and Happiness!

98 – You are out with a girl you get along with, then she gets drunk and passes out. How do you deal with it?
Stay back and watch what happens for a while, then wake her.

99 – When playing guitar, what makes you feel like it’s going great?
I can always tell when I’m about to do something BEAUTIFUL. And well, playing is so much FUN for me, I always feel GREAT.

100 – Throw down the horns!!(7)
This pose makes me feel 5 TIMES more

METAL!!

[VAMPS] TRANSLATED (ongoing) REPORT: VAMPS LIVE 2012 - VAMPS TOKYO 4-22 July

by L'Arc~en~ciel UK Fans Unite (English Street Team) on Monday, 9 July 2012 at 09:19 ·
VAMPS have now returned to Tokyo and are taking over their hometurf, Zepp Tokyo, for a month!! They'lll be playing 13 gigs over the next couple of weeks, and that means plenty of MCs to translate!

I'm doing these as they happen since I thought I'd get all the shows mixed up, so I'll keep editing this note as the shows happen. I will let you know once I update them :D

ENJOY! (Beware: some adult content ;D )

*************************************************

4/7/12 Day 1

HYDE MC
VAMPS ARE HERE!!! Welcome to VAMPS TOKYO!!! Come on Tokyo! Let’s go! We’re going to devour all of you for the next month or so – you guys better be prepared!!! Let’s be naughty together!

HYDE before TROUBLE:
TOKYO!! Show us everything you’ve got!! Make a funny face! Show us your funny face!!! We’ll still think it’s cute! Go on! Show us! Act on your instinct! Lose your reason!

(NB this is apparently the call and response that is clearly the trend of this tour – HYDE makes the audience shout back like H: Lose your! A: Reason!!!)

Make some noise!!! If you don’t make noise, K.A.Z-kun can’t come!! K.A.Z is that type of person (LAUGH)! TOKYO! TOKYO!!!

K.A.Z MC
Hello VAMPS TOKYO!! We’re going to play 13 gigs here.
How has everyone been? We’ve been touring around Japan, starting from Sendai, Niigata, Kochi, Hiroshima, Kumamoto… I think we played 12 gigs altogether. But we're going to play more gigs here than the total so far! I hope everyone has been building up their stamina so they can cope! (A: we washed our necks! NB please see earlier note for meaning of this expression) You washed your necks? I hope you washed your faces too! Erm, to build up your stamina, you have to eat… so we have to go hunting… (looking at HYDE)

H: I’m hungry!! I haven't had enough blood!! I want virgin blood… but I don't think there is any here… SO I WANT TO EAT THE CRAZY ONES!!! WHO’S THE CRAZIEST OF THEM ALL??????? LET’S GO HUNTING!!!!!!!

HYDE MC
I just looked in the mirror backstage and my flies were undone!!! (A: show us!!!) If you ever catch a glimpse of 'it", you’ll all die!!

Odaiba (NB where the venue is) has changed a lot since I last came here – there’s a massive robot (NB Recently they’ve built a life-sized GUNDAM robot statue in Odaiba) (A: have you seen it??) I saw it in passing earlier.

So VAMPS TOKYO has kicked off – we’re going to be here for a month, so please come by, after going to see the robot (laugh). The stage set has been renewed too – it looks like you guys are on fire from where I stand, does it look ok from your side?? I'm having so much fun!

It’s summer. We’ll be doing a gig on the beach – I hope you can come and join us. This summer you can go to the beach as well as going to see the robot!

(suddenly crunches the sweet that he’s been sucking on)

(A: what are you eating??)

It’s a candy. Peach flavour. Momo (NB “momo” is Japanese for peach). MOMO. M, O, M, O (pronouncing the letters). MOMO. Sounds like HOMO (laughing). Do you like peaches too K.A.Z-kun?

K: Yes, I like it.

H: Ooh, stop telling me you love me (pretends to be bashful)

(I have to explain this bit – so in Japanese the word “suki” cannot be clearly distinguished as “like” or “love”, and as you may know the Japanese language can often bypass the use of the object within a sentence. So when HYDE asked “do you like peaches?” to K.A.Z-kun, his reply of “Yes I do like (lack of object but meaning peaches)” can also be taken as “Yes I love (you)”. That is why HYDE claims that K.A.Z-kun was confessing his love to him!)

H: (A: we love you HYDE!) I love you all too! Thank you! Thank you! I feel lonely if you guys aren’t here with me! We’re going to cause chaos wherever we go this year – so make sure you join us!
I’ll play with you guys tomorrow so wait for it!! Make sure you’re ready!!!

********************

5/7/12 Day 2

So this was the day that HYDE arrived at the venue in his black Ferrari – very celeb indeed! Apparently he appeared in his open top Ferrari (with red seats apparently), gave the fans a wave, then went in to the venue, and from then on there was always a member of staff watching over the car (LOL).

Ju-ken MC
HELLOO!!! VAMPS TOKYO!!! It’s great isn’t it, Zepp Tokyo has been renamed VAMPS Tokyo for this month! Today is the 2nd day – you guys having fun??

Whenever I’m told to do the MCs, I always end up talking about useless rubbish, so I thought I should ask you guys for your opinions today. What did you guys do this morning?? I woke up, and then practiced skateboarding – which is something we’re all into at the moment. So from about 6am, I was skateboarding, and then the granny living opposite me saw me and asked “Is that just a piece of wood? How is it moving??” and was really surprised (smiling). But skateboarding makes you hungry. Who did something that made them hungry this morning??? (Audience says lots of things at once) What? I can’t make out what you’re saying!! I assumed this was going to happen, this call and response thing is hard!
After that I was practicing playing the bass. Is there anything you do every morning?? (Again, audience shouts randomly) Yeah… it’s fine, we’re communicating with our hearts!

Anyway, talking makes us hungry. Aniki~ (NB the way Ju-ken calls HYDE)?
(HYDE ignores him and goes off somewhere) erm, both of them have gone somewhere… should I make you guys more hungry? So once I arrived at the venue today, I took lots of photos of the members arriving – JIN-chan was very cool, he came driving his own car. Arly came in his Harley Davidson! Anyway, we’re hungry now right??

(HYDE ignores him again lol) hungry…?

H: I’m not that hungry, I ate a lot earlier… BUT THERE’S ALWAYS ROOM FOR BLOOD!!! Can I eat you?? CAN I EAT YOU??? I’M GOING TO ARREST YOU ALL (NB Lol WTF) I WANT TO EAT ANKOROMOCHI-!!! (LOL not again!)

HYDE MC
Ahhhh it’s so hot. SO HOT!! I can feel that your hearts are hot!!! I’m getting excited! I’m getting aroused! Thank you for coming everybody! I can see only the top of the heads of some of you – can you see anything? Are you still enjoying yourself?? If only you could have eyes on your hands – just like a crab. You know, so you could put your hand up and see (gestures crab motions)!

I want to go to Diver City (NB entertainment complex in Odaiba). You can ride the GUNDAM there right? Like pretend to steer it? There’s a game arcade there where you can bobsleigh - I did it before. There’s this ride where it feels like the floor is shaking. I did that before too.  It felt good.

Are you guys feeling good? You guys feeling it??

Shall we have sex again?? But those of you who can't see very much, make sure you jump! Move! Jump!
Move like you're cowgirling/straddling me (LOL I love translating for you seriously) – look down upon us and move!! Look down on…Ju-ken (laughs). What about it Ju-ken?

J: you’re asking me what sexual position I prefer??

H: Actually don't tell me, that’s gross (laugh - lol HYDE you asked him!). You know everyone has some sort of fetish. (looks at Ju-ken)

J: You want to know my fetish?

H: Actually don’t tell me, that’s gross (laughs again) (A: what about K.A.Z??)
As for K.A.Z-kun, he’s into spanking. I can always here these sounds coming from next door (imitates spanking noises) – does that really feel good?

K: (laughing) I’ve never done such a thing!! I’m more into the you know, this (points at dog collar he’s wearing).

H: Dog collars? You like being made to wear a collar?

K: Or someone else.

(A: You like making them wear a collar???)

H: What are you on about?! (LOL the whole thing here was apparently amusing because HYDE tried to make K.A.Z-kun talk about such ‘adult’ things, but as soon as K.A.Z started to do so, HYDE pretended that he had no clue why he was talking about such things. Cheeky!)

How many of you are virgins here?

(One man in the audience shouts ‘ME!’)

You’re a man (laughing) oh ok, so you’re a male-virgin (NB in Japanese the word for virgin is different for male and female). You must have been very protective. Keep it up! And in your next life, try harder (laugh)!!!

Anyway let’s go!

********************

7/7/12 Day 3

(Another thing to explain – so this day was the 7th July. In Japan we celebrate Tanabata (the 7th evening), a star festival which is the meeting of Orihime (female star deity) and HIkoboshi (male star deity), two lovers who are separated by the Milky Way during the rest of the year but are allowed to meet on this day for one night only. Normally one writes their wishes on a piece of paper that they hang on bamboo branches.

HYDE MC:
HELLO TOKYO!!! Are you ok?? Have you been washing your necks?? Let’s go!!! Let’s do it together!!!!!!!

After LIVE WIRE:
Apparenlty HYDE was panting suggestively, saying “I’m nearly there… I’m going to come…!” whilst playing with his flies (LOL HYDE SERIOUSLY). He continued to open and close his flies, stick his hand into his trousers and overall just playing with his crotch area. Oh dear HYDE!

Arly MC
Today is the 7th July right?? Tanabata festival! Did you make your wishes?? It’s the only day that Orihime and Hikoboshi can meet up… I wonder what they’re going to do – especially if they haven’t seen eachother in a year…?
(A: wolf whistling) No need to wolf whistle, it’s not me that’s going to do “it”! But it must feel good if they haven’t done it for a year!

So we kicked off our tour last month, and we’ve visited some places which we don’t usually go to… Like Niigata, and Hiroshima. It’d been 2 years since we last went! And now we’re back in Tokyo. We’re going to play 13 gigs! Today is the 3rd day… I hope you guys aren’t feeling too relaxed because there’s so many more gigs to go! Are you ok? Can you do it?? Who’s coming all 13 days?? (some of audience cheer) Who’s coming only today?? (Some of audience cheer) Make some noise! More! Are we hungry?? Let’s go!!!

HYDE MC
It’s raining a lot today… The rain makes you moist and sticky… you guys like feeling moist and sticky?? I don’t (laugh).
How did you guys come here today? By train?? Did you see the robot??
By the way I have a question for the people who wait to greet us when we arrive at the venue – what do you guys do after we’ve arrived? There's quite a lot of time til the show right? (A: we go and eat!) eat? Where do you go? The Venus Fort? (NB a rather fancy shopping mall which is meant to look like a medieval European village) I’ve never been there, considering I come to the Zepp so often! Do they have those purikura (NB photo sticker) machines there? I have this image that only girls go there. No? I wouldn't be allowed in since I have a willy (laugh)! Do they check? Willy check??? Willy check!!! Do they sell men’s clothing aswell? Oh they do?? I should go then at one point…

Oh I did go to the Mediage yesterday (NB cinema in Odaiba). I saw Spiderman! It was clearly very popular… there were only 3 people in the audience! It was like the place had been reserved! It was really good! Why was no one there to see it? It was so good!

You know he was like K.A.Z-kun. Spiderman was skateboarding, just like K.A.Z-kun! I think K.A.Z-kun should dress up as Spiderman tomorrow! He can climb the walls, and fly towards the upper floor and come back.

K: You want me to play the guitar like that!?

(laughing) You know I told you we went bungee jumping in Sendai? There was this horizontal one, where you jump horizontally – Spiderman was like that! Like this (gestures shooting web from hand) and you know, jumping. I guess if you did it here, you can shoot the web here, and then fly that way…ok maybe you’ll fall  and hit the floor (laugh). Unless you shoot the web directly above… anyway, K.A.Z-kun will be Spiderman tomorrow! (to K.A.Z) If you don’t want to, or if you have a stomach ache tomorrow, Ju-ken will do it (laugh).

Anyway, you guys should go and see the film too! I recommend the dubbed version (A: really??) – Don’t be silly – you can’t understand English right? You don’t have time to be reading subtitles when Spiderman is impressively flying around! Especially since the subtitles are 3D too – it’s distracting to have to read the kanji whilst he’s there flying around!

Anyway, you guys hungry??? Let’s go!!!! (HUNTING was after the encore apparently)

********************

8/7/12 DAY 4

HYDE MC
HELLO TOKYO!! Have you been washing your necks??? I’m starving today, so I’m going to drink loads of blood!! Don’t be afraid, we’re going to treat you well!

K.A.Z MC
It’s nearly summer! (A: it already is summer!) We’re going to be playing at the beach. Have you already bought your swimsuits?? (A: mixed response) No? If you haven’t, buy a school uniform swimsuit and label it with your name.  (A: do you like them??) No, but all the other members do (laugh) (NB The “school uniform swimsuit” thing is some bizarre fetish that is known amongst the Japanese. Strange, I know!)

Erm… What shall I talk about? Have you guys been to the Diver City yet?? I haven’t been there yet, but apparently they're building a skate boarding park on the roof ! We’re all very into practicing our skate boarding, so we want to go at some point.

I hope everyone can build up their stamina! Have some cold ramen! (Audience shouts things) What? Huh? (Audience continues to shout) I can’t understand unless you talk one by one! (Audience still shout randomly) Er… yeah, whatever (laughing) anyway, I’m hungry! I don’t think I can speak anymore coz I’m hungry… Can we go huntiiing???

HYDE MC
Today is the day after Tanabata… Who thinks that the stars representing Orihime and Hikoboshi are meant to overlap on Tanabata day?? (half of audience put hand up) Actually, the stars don’t actually overlap, which means they can’t meet. The media are tricking you into believe that because of the story! I’m sure Orihime and Hikoboshi feel satisfied today though, since it’d been a year since they last did it… (A: You said they don’t overlap!) Oh yeah, they didn't meet (laugh). What day is it today? (looks at Ju-ken) Ju-ken researches what every day represents!

(mic catches sound of HYDE sucking on sweet) What flavour do you think it is? What flavour?? (A: peach!!) If you spell it? (A: M, O, M, O) YES! M, O, M, O!! Peaches look like bums no? You guys are like peaches too (laugh).

My voice finally seems to be getting better. This time my schedule was so tight that I could only join the rehearsals 5 times, although the other members were rehearsing more. So my voice wasn’t as good at the beginning. It was especially hard for the Sendai shows. Now it feels like it’s back on top form. It feels good!!
We’re doing 13 gigs for VAMPS Tokyo, so there’s hardly time to rest – I’m a bit worried about what could happen! Like we should be careful not to fall over when we’re skateboarding (laugh).

So we’ve taken over the Zepp Tokyo for a month. There’s no one else who has played so many times here. The Zepp Sendai has now closed… (A: buy it!!) It’s not a matter of buying it – it’s already gone! In Sendai we were the record holders. In second place were Nightmare, who are local to Sendai. I wonder if we hold the record for the other Zepps as well? We like to play many small shows - If we played bigger venues, they’d be over so quickly! (A: Yaaay! Thank you!) No, we’re doing it because we want to. -  so thank you for joining us every time!

[HYDE] TRANSLATION: WHAT's IN? Interview

by L'Arc~en~ciel UK Fans Unite (English Street Team) on Friday, 22 June 2012 at 05:59 ·
Quite a thoughtful interview from our favourite vocalist.

...London was your toughest opponent?! Well we enjoyed battling with you!!! ;D

 ************************************************

L’Arc~en~Ciel’s 20th anniversary year must have been a year of new achievements and awakenings. HYDE says that the band’s activity this year has allowed him to discover the joys of singing.  It is clearly visible that he now seems to be much more active and positive about openly expressing himself. If the entire of his potential to express himself as an artist became fully exposed, and he himself has indeed undergone a revelation, this would be extremely interesting yet at the same time almost frightening. This interview was held on the 24th May, 2 days before the “20th L’Anniversary WORLD TOUR 2012 THE FINAL” at the National Stadium. We wanted to capture what HYDE had himself achieved from the World Tour, and his thoughts on returning to VAMPS once again – the HYDE of the moment, as the artist behind L’Arc~en~Ciel, VAMPS and ofcourse at the core, HYDE himself as an artist.

 ************************************************

Q: Previously, you told us “As much as the World Tour is our dream, it’s also the dream of our staff”. What exactly do you mean by ‘dream’?

H: I think that would depend on each person... but for me, I think Japan is still a very closed and conservative country. Like the Japanese people don’t have much interest in other countries.

Q: They have no interest?

H: They’ll go abroad for holidays, but it’s not like they want to do something, or achieve something there. Compared to other countries, I think Japan wants to keep to themselves. Because that was how it worked until now. But somewhere deep inside, everyone wishes for the international success of the Japanese. They want someone to play concerts overseas. And if possible, they want to get involved themselves. That’s why I think this tour was also the ‘dreams’ for each of the staff as well. Also for the various companies that were involved. It was like we were carrying with us the hopes and dreams of lots of different people, so after the final show, I think everyone felt proud of their own work. We were even told by members of the audience how happy they were as a Japanese person.

Q: What about yourself?

H: However big we become, bands like Mr. Children and Southern All Stars are always going to be the main stream in the Japanese music industry. And the bands like us, who wear make-up and stuff, will always be regarded as a ‘fancy’ (N.B. the Japanese word used here can also mean ‘alternative’ and ‘not mainstream’ aswell) band. But that’s probably why L’Arc~en~Ciel would be the only band who could pull off this World Tour, and the only band who could pull off a gig at Madison Square Garden. I hadn’t really thought about it initially, , but when I thought afterwards “then who else would be able to?”, I couldn’t think of anyone else. At least for a while now. Doing such things increases L’Arc~en~Ciel’s ‘existential value’, and if we are to continue with L’Arc~en~Ciel we need to be an increasingly stylish and cool band. Especially as a non-main stream band.

Q: What you call ‘existential value’ means that you want to become a band that is noticed and valued not only within Japan but more broadly, worldwide?

H: No, fundamentally I mean our value within Japan. We’ve still got a long way to go overseas, but the way the Japanese view us is now decided. I think the future of L’Arc~en~Ciel depends on changing this fixed view that they have of us.

Q: So it was almost like the World Tour was a means to increase the value of the band within Japan?

H: I guess you could say that. As much as it was indeed one of our aspirations to go on a World Tour, what you’ve just said was also an alternative goal. That made it even more important for us to do it. Overseas, we’re not categorised – it’s unbiased, and people don’t refer to us as *the T-shirt band* or “the make-up band”. We wanted the challenge of battling it out in a country where no one had any prejudices about us. And I think we won our battle. Everywhere we went, we played a great show – it was a tour that will really lead on to the future of L’Arc~en~Ciel.

Q: I guess if it was just to achieve your aspirations, you wouldn’t be thinking that you ‘won’.

H: Yes. If we did something un-cool, that would have meant that we lost the battle. That would be terrible.

Q: What do you mean by ‘un-cool’?

H: Basically a live that isn’t fun, or has no energy. But during this tour, I think at every live we played, we managed to reach out to the hearts of our fans. We could tell by their facial expressions.

Q: How sure were you that you were going to win before you went on tour?

H: We knew that there were fans everywhere around the world, so to some extent yes. But we couldn’t really judge the reality of it all. If we were playing in Japan we would be able to guess the size of the venue, or how many people would come, but overseas, we had no previous data.

Q: It’s hard to imagine anything about the MSG.

H: Regarding MSG, my first thoughts were that ‘It must be massive’. We obviously knew that it was a famous venue, so I guess it was both the joy of being able to play at such prestigious venue, as well as being a bit worried, like ‘Are we going to be ok?’. As a Japanese person, I think America is a tough opponent.

Q: What do you mean?

H: Countries like France are really friendly. The French listen to English songs, just like us Japanese do, so they’re used to listening to songs from lots of different countries. In other words, by default they’re willing to listening to music from overseas. South Korea is also like that. But the English-speaking countries pretty much only listen to English/American music. For a Japanese artist to play in a massive venue in a country like that and to play Japanese songs is difficult and tough. So to be honest, I wasn’t sure if we’d manage to fill the venue. But because of that, we were the most determined when we played at the MS. But fundamentally, it was going to be a live by L’Arc~en~Cie, so we just went there, as usual, as just the band that we are. But every time we were interviewed by the local media, we were referred to as ‘the first Asians’ and got asked things like ‘How do you feel to be the first Japanese to stand on the MSG stage’. And eventually we started to think ‘we’re doing this for the country too’. You know, we would constantly be reminded of the Japanese flag (laugh).

Q: Like the representatives of Japan (laugh).

H: Yes, just like that. Up until then we were thinking about how to play a successful concert, but soon our thoughts changed, and we were determined that we had to make them think “Wow, that live by that Japanese band was great” – otherwise we wouldn’t be able to face the Japanese people when we returned.

Q: Did you feel a lot of pressure?

H: Only the good sort of pressure. We practiced and rehearsed a lot, which we don’t usually do, and that worked out really well. I think one of the biggest personal achievements after this tour is that I no longer feel at all nervous. I don’t feel nervous even if I have to open the show with an a capella piece, so my voice is really stable. It was almost like breathing in the space. I felt ecstasy from everyone watching me whilst I sing (laugh). I would smile to myself – I was touched by what I was seeing. It felt wonderful, I was really happy. I no longer felt like “Gosh there are so many people, I mustn’t make any mistakes!”.

Q: That’s a massive achievement.

H: Actually, I still felt “I mustn’t make any mistakes” (laugh). I think just after the MSG show, it felt like I’d just finished an exam. It’s not like I was nervous, but almost like I was competing in a figure skating competition.

Q: Speaking of English speaking countries, how was London?

H: For me, I thought London was going to be the toughest opponent (laugh). But because the London venue was the size of a live house, it was really energetic and everyone was really into it. In Asia, Jakarta was really interesting. Because it’s a country where there are many Muslim people, there were lots of fans who were covering their faces with scarves – it was a scene I’d never experienced before. We’d seen fans of different nationalities before, but that was the first time that I’d felt “Now, we’re crossing the borders of religion”. But even so, the relationship between the fans and ourselves was the same wherever we went. We may look different, but everyone’s facial expressions and smiles were the same, just like the Japanese fans. Everyone looked so happy and joyous.

Q: That must have given you lots of power.

H: I think that’s why I never feel tired. Everyone gives me energy and power.

Q: What was it that you wanted to convey and express to the fans, standing on the stage of a country where not only the language is different, but the culture they grew up in?

H: It’s not like I have a particular thought behind what I want to express. But I felt overwhelmed when I realised that at that moment, all those people were crossing all the borders and singing the same song. There’s obviously a part of me which wishes for a world where there’s no conflict, and that’s something that is a major part of my thoughts and ideals, but that wasn’t the reason why we went to all those countries to play. But each time we played, we noticed because of the fans that we are actually capable of doing these amazing things. Not everyone has an opportunity to experience moments of such joy.

Q: And with no time to spare, VAMPS are back.

H: I know. I was obviously intending to do something with VAMPS this year, maybe around the summer. But I wasn’t expecting it to be so soon!

Q: Yes, I thought that too (laugh).

H: One of the reasons was because ZEPP SENDAI was going to close down, and they asked us to play there. To be honest I thought it was too soon, but we owe the venue a lot, and we hadn’t played in North East Japan since the quake. I’d always wanted to play there, so I’m happy we can do so.

Q: Since there isn’t much time between, how do you intend to switch from L’Arc~en~Ciel to VAMPS within yourself?

H: I guess what’ll happen will happen, it’s always been like that. I don’t have a clear distinction between the two. I go with the flow.

Q: Which means that L’Arc~en~Ciel’s HYDE is the same as VAMPS’ HYDE?

H: Of course. Although the way I do things is different. It’s like going to work, and then coming home to your hobby. There isn’t a clear switchover. I don’t think that ‘working’ is uncool – in fact I think a man shines the most when he’s working – and it’s not like I’m being more myself when I’m ‘playing’. I can’t separate which of L’Arc~en~Ciel and VAMPS is ‘work’ and ‘play’. I guess VAMPS seems more like ‘play’ because we’re free to do more things. I just want to light-heartedly do some cool stuff.

Q: Do you have a particular vision?

H: Not a vision per se, but maybe to beat L’Arc (laugh)?

Q: beat in what way?

Q: Maybe the size of the audience (laugh)? I know it’s difficult, but why not aim high? I think VAMPS is an innovative rock band with an extremely “free” style.

Q: I’ve also felt it today, but recently it feels like you are expressing yourself as ‘HYDE, the artist’, both for L’Arc~en~Ciel and for VAMPS.

H: Maybe. Because I’ve recently been able to do the things that I want as part of L’Arc~en~Ciel, I feel more stable. Especially since this time we played a lot of lives – I do most of the planning for the lives, so it felt similar to what I do with VAMPS. I no longer feel they’re separate – there’s some overlap inside of me. Although VAMPS is a little bit closer to myself. But before I felt that they were completely different entities.

Q: You’re enjoying expressing yourself with everything you do?

H: Yeah, that’s it. I guess I’ve had a bit of a breakthrough with L’Arc~en~Ciel (NB I want to be careful when translating this – I think he means that he somehow feels like he’s gotten over the worries/concerns he had with L’Arc, for the better). I used to focus a lot on how everything had to be in 4 equal pieces – that I shouldn’t stand out too much. But that wasn’t cool, and I thought to myself that I should really give everything that I’ve got. Since then I think my vocal style has changed too. Sometimes I do end up standing out too much, but that’s inevitable. If that makes the band better/more cool/attractive, each of us should give everything that we’ve got – there’s not need to restrict ourselves. In that sense, L’Arc~en~Ciel have gone through many changes in this 20th anniversary year. I think we’re the most cool/attaractive than we’ve ever been.

Q: Finally, what do you visualise for the future, as ‘HYDE, the artist’?

H: I guess it’s how I can express myself in the given circumstances. For example, we managed our world tour because there were fans all over the world. That’s one of L’Arc~en~Ciel’s qualities. I think I’ll continue to express my own ‘art’ as an individual, whilst stoically judging what it is that I can achieve in my own environment in the given circumstances.

QUESTIONS for HYDE

We requested our followers via twitter to send in questions for HYDE, and received plenty of responses. We carefully selected 5 questions and asked HYDE to answer them!

Q: Tell us a secret about yourself.

H: I know we’ve played it many times, but I’m still not sure when to come in at the beginning of ‘READY STEADY GO’ (everyone laughs). There’s so much fill-in that I get worried where I should start singing (laugh). I always think, ‘huh? When?’.

Q: What has recently made your heart throb?

H: (to his manager) can you think of anything?

Q: You’re asking someone else what made YOUR heart throb?

H: I forget these things straight away. Can you think of something that made me happy?

Manager: The roller coaster?

H: Ah yes, that did make me a little happy (laugh). There was a joint-project with Universal Studio Japan, where you could ride the “Hollywood Dream The Ride” roller coaster whilst listening to ‘CHASE’. It matched brilliantly, and I thought ‘COOL!’.

Q: How do you get over difficult times?

H: Alcohol I guess? Drink, feel merry and then sleep, that’s the best. I think time is important. If you can allow time to pass, things usually work out. If you stay awake and think about it, you only get swallowed up by your problems. If you stop thinking and sleep, about 8 hours would have passed when you wake up.

Q: So you think it’s important for 8 hours of time to physically pass?

H: Exactly. It’s also good to watch a film or something. When time passes, you can look back calmly and will probably find a solution.

Q: Is there something you want to do before you die?

H: I want to go and see the wonders of the world – like the aurora, or the pyramids. Having said that I missed seeing the annular solar eclipse (laugh).

Q: What do you do to get over your nerves?

H: I take a deep breath. Also, I try not to think of people as people. I imagine they’re stones.

Q: Can you really do that?

H: Not really (laugh). OK, so maybe not stones, but if you think they’re all children, it makes you less nervous. I think you get nervous if you think that there’s someone above you watching you. But I think the most important thing is to be on top form. You get nervous because you’re worried or anxious.

Q: That can be difficult though... It’s difficult to know what it means to be on ‘top form’.

H: That’s true. For us, we’re often in such situations so we get used to it, but for normal people, it isn’t often that happens. So in that case, think they’re stones! (laugh)

20th L'Anniversary WORLD TOUR 2012 THE FINAL, National Stadium (Kokuritsu Kyougijou) – 26th and 27th May

klo yg ini report dari fans UK (seperti biasa)

TRANSLATED REPORT: 20th L'Anniversary WORLD TOUR 2012 THE FINAL, National Stadium (Kokuritsu Kyougijou) – 26th and 27th May

by L'Arc~en~ciel UK Fans Unite (English Street Team) on Sunday, 27 May 2012 at 05:04 ·
So the end is nigh! Today saw the first of the 2 National Stadium 'FINAL" shows, which has also been referred to as "A festival" and "A thank you party". The shows were promoted in a way that it promised to be a live that was different to any of the World Tour shows, and had a special feel to it, especially as they even handed out uchiwa's (paper fans) to everyone coming today to boost this "festival" atmosphere!! Another special feature of this show was the venue - the National Stadium boasts a very well maintained grass pitch, which means that only one artist can have a gig here per year. And only 3 (SMAP, Dreams Come True and Arashi) have played here before, which meant that L'Arc were the first rock band that played here!! The famous Kao-T-shirts (with the members faces) sold out at 11am and the expectations were high, with much TV hype.

And did they live up to these expectations? HELL YES!!! From what I can see it was really a very special live, with many older songs as well as the much loved classics. However apparently the MCs were quite short today, so there isn't the usual length of report - and believe it or not, NO FILTH from ken-chan today!!! Man that must have been special ;)

************************************

The live started with an opening movie – a "Breaking News" clip from LCN (L'Arc cable news??) which reported a UFO sighting in many places around the world. The first sighting was on March 3rd in Hong Kong - yes, the first date of their world tour!! And then a diamond-shaped object (the UFO?! lol) appeared with the Kao-T-shirt faces of the members - and this object was sighted in all of the cities where L'Arc had performed. This included footage of the UFO floating above the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben etc! And then the newscaster asked "where is the object heading" It seems like it is doing a world tour!". And then breaking news - the object is heading to Tokyo!! And the screen showed the UFO hovering above the Kokuritsu stadium, with reports from a newscaster in a helicopter watching the UFO. And then inscriptions appeared on the object, which spelled L'Arc~en~Ciel!!!

And a marching band appeared (who were playing the chorus of Niji) and the members made a grand entrance, eventually getting on a float, which circled the stadium, apparently taking a good 20mins to go round.

01.READY STEADY GO - Apparently from the beginning hyde was shouting “TOKYO!!!!!” which I’m sure was funny considering the whole ZIP thing about “when hyde will say “Kokuritsu”, the name of the venue" - shout Kokuritsu hyde, not Tokyo!!!
02.GOOD LUCK MY WAY
03.REVELATION - finally, before REVELATION he shouted “Let’s go Kokuritsu!!! SHOOOUTTT!!!”
04.HEAVEN'S DRIVE
05.Vivid Colors

-hyde MC-
Tadaima!!! We’re back Tokyo! Today, it’s a festival, so let’s all go wild!! Can you do it?!?! Can you guys do it!?!?!? CAN YOU DO IT!?!? We’ve really been looking forward to today – because it’s a party! So let’s celebrate the final of this 20th year anniversary together!!! Can you do it!? KOKURICHUUUU!!! (apparently that’s the way he said it – aww) Let’s go!!!

So the next song is one that we played last year in the rain… We didn’t manage to achieve the atmosphere and feeling because of the rain, today is the revenge for that!!! CAN WE TAKE REVENGE TODAY!? Ok, tecchan, take it away!

06.In The Air
07.Kaze no Yukue
08.MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM

-adverts-
All 4 of the adverts previously shown at the Nissan and USJ were shown today – apparently yukkie was spotted looking fondly at his Doal’arc chocolate advert! Man he must really like that Doara!

09.Driver's High
10.Caress of Venus

-ken MC- Welcome back the 21st-Century MC!!! (as in the one when ken-chan shouts/talks along with the beat of the intro of SEVENTH HEAVEN)

During “Caress of Venus” the cheerleaders were dancing on the stage, and at the end when the members left the stage, they stayed and eventually gathered around ken’s microphone. And from behind the group of cheerleaders ken appeared, shouting:

YAAAY! (audience: YAAAY!) YAAAY??? (audience: YAAY!!) you’re shouting too early! Do it like this: YAAAAY (momentary gap) YAAAAY! Ok? YAAAAAY!!! (momentary gap, then audience: YAAAY!) …(and this went on for a while, to develop into his rhythmical YAYAYAYAYA!! along to the beat of SEVENTH HEAVEN)

How is it going?? Erm, L’Arc~en~Ciel are back from touring the world!! These beautiful ladies here today are from the cheer leading team “Planets”. They won second place in the world championships! I hear that today is a festival, so I want everyone in the audience, together with the Planets, together with L’Arc~en~Ciel, to dance! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYY!!!! SEVENTH HEAVEN!!!!!!

11.SEVENTH HEAVEN
12.Ibara no Namida
13.C'est La Vie - apparently before this song, tecchan had his banana-bass solo, and everyone was expecting the next track to be Stay away, but then, as the band were ready to go to the next track with some nodding at oneanother, hyde opened with "Oui C'est la Vie" - obviously, audience was in a frenzy!!!
14.Shout at the Devil
15.Drum Solo

-ENCORE-
For the encore the members appeared on the sub-stage.

hyde: Ahhh you’re all beautiful! Beautiful! Can we do a track that feels a little like that? Pieces.

16.Pieces (members sat on the drum set)

hyde: (looking at the glow sticks) It’s really beautiful. They look like stars. Can we do another track? Yes? They look like stars!! It’s really, truly beautiful. Can we carry on??

17.HONEY

-Movie-
As they returned to the main stage, they showed some futuristic clips on the screen, still with the UFO going round and round!

18.NEO UNIVERSE
19.CHASE
20.X X X
21.Link

-tetsuya MC-
WASSHOOOI!!! WASSSHOOOOI!!!!!! Ogenki-?? How are you all??? KOKURITSU-!!! Egg!!! (Please see other note translations for tetsuya’s egg jokes!) DO YOU WANT TO EAT MY BANANA~!? ORRRRR, DO YOU WANT TO LICK MY LOLLIPOPPPP!?!?!?!?! Which?! WHICH!?!? (holding his bananas and lollipops and asking which one the audience wants) CATCH! Ooh, nice catch!! You want to hear the rest of the song?? YOU WANT TO HEAR IT?? Can you do it Kokuritsu~!? Let’s GOO!!!

-hyde MC-
Erm, yes, can I ask you guys a question? You know you all jump during LINK, isn’t it tough?? I’ve always thought that it looks tiring. Do you guys do that all the time?? It must drain your energy. Does it feel good to jump like that?? It’s like finishing off with that (laugh), as long as it ends well! I wonder who started doing those jumping moves?? They must have been thinking like, “I want to jump, but I also want to clap my hands to the beat” and that’s how it ended up - with you doing both (laugh). You’re all wonderful. Beautiful, really beautiful.

We didn’t think that we could play somewhere so wonderful as this for the final of our 20th anniversary year. I guess it makes it even more special that it’s not often that you can play at this venue. You know, we are sort of in our 21st year now – how do you think? (looking at tecchan)

tetsuya: Did you notice that we've actually entered the 21st year? Did you guys notice too (to audience)??

hyde: I wonder for how long we’re going to be saying it’s our 20th anniversary.

tetsuya: We should just celebrate our 21st year now.

hyde: We’re a very free-wheeling band who only does what we want when we want it, so we have to do everything when we have the momentum and energy to do so. You have no idea what’s going to happen next…we’re joking (laugh).
But I think that the reason we’ve managed to come this far for 20 years despite being such a difficult band,is because of this stance we had - which was probably the right way for us. Different people (bands) will have different ways of doing things, but since we’ve managed to get this far, we probably weren’t wrong in what we did.

(the camera shooting hyde also showed yukihiro in the background so the screen shows both of them together – hyde looks around at the screen)

That was a great 2-shot (2 people in one camera frame) with yukihiro-san. It looks like a manga comic or something – like me being a character saying “and yeah, yukkie”. By the way yukihiro-kun apparently wants a hyde T-shirt. (yukkie nods and strums some beats) You like the face right? (yukkie nods) Me, I want a yukihiro T-shirt. What about you ken-chan? Which one do you want? I want to ask everyone’s opinion.

ken: All of them.

hyde: Do you still have those dolls in your toilet? (NB This is referring to an MC during the tour last year where ken said that he had the pinky street dolls lined up in his toilet)

ken: Yeah, there’s more of them now. Like the person with wings (referring to hyde’s newest pinky).

hyde: Well now with the T-shirts you can make your wardrobe L’Arc~en~Ciel style too. What about you tecchan?

tetsuya: Huh? T-shirt??

hyde: we were talking about the T-shirts, but you weren’t listening were you?

tetsuya: I WAS listening!

hyde: I guess you may not have anything to say since you weren't listening, but say something!

tetsuya: Erm… it’s hard to come up with a punchline to amuse everyone… Erm, I guess, I’d like to wear each member’s T-shirt on rotation everyday??

hyde: Err…I’m sorry I asked and forced you for an answer… (haha)

Thank you to everyone for coming to play (NB that is how he referred to the lives – “coming out to play” – that’s sweet!) every time. Thank you. We have nothing planned next for L’Arc~en~Ciel at the moment, but, will you guys come out and play with us again? I hope you will come out to play with us again. This is our final song, Niji.

22. Niji

After Niji, hyde said “Thank you. We’ll come back. You guys be good/behave yourselves while you wait for us. (as if he remembered that there is still a show tomorrow – yes hyde there is!) And there’s also tomorrow. Good night!!

Tecchan came back out to throw his bananas, “THANK YOU! See you tomorrow!!!”

(A special thank you to my live-buddy はるか who helped me with some details to put together this report! Thank you dearest, it was SUPER helpful!!!)

Day 2

For some reason the Hawaii shows seem like they're in a league of their own, so, as hyde mentioned, today was the final of the final... Which makes me sad but at least they mentioned the next world tour (although we have no idea when that would be!).

The same opening routine as yesterday as the boys entered the packed stadium once again!

01. READY STEADY GO
02. GOOD LUCK MY WAY (hyde shouting KOKURITSU-! Let’s goo!!! Can you do it Kokuritsu-!? Show us all you’ve got! Give us everything!! Shout!! Can you shout?? Shout Kokurits-!!!’ )
03. REVELATION
04. HONEY
05. Flower

-hyde MC-
Tadaima-! Kokuritsu, we’re back!!! It’s here...it’s here. Yes, today is finally here. Today is really the final of the final, so go for it like crazy!! If you come here tomorrow we won’t be here! OK? So give everything you’ve got today! Can you?? CAN YOU?? Today is a festival, so go wild! Kokuritsu-! Kokuritsu-!!! Koku! (audience: ritsu!) Koku! (audience: ritsu!) Koku Koku!! (audience: Ritsu! Ritsu!!) ...we’re nicely in time (laugh). We’re in time? (yukkie strums some beats and nods) Koku Koku! (audience: Ritsu! Ritsu!)

Yaaay! Can we take it easy today?? You know, since it’s a festival. It’s a beautiful day today – it feels great. I wanted to do it under a blue sky like this. (ken says something to him) What? Hey, don’t say those things!! (NB some speculations here about what ken said to hyde, but apparently it may have had something to do with ‘doing it outisde’. Lol ken, trust!) No really, I wanted to do it under a blue sky (ken continues). No (to ken)! Anyway tecchan, take it away!

06. In the Air
07. Natsu no Yuutsu -time to say good-bye-
08. MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM
09. Driver's High
10. the Fourth Avenue Cafe

-ken MC- (21st Century MC)
Like yesterday, ken appeared from behind the group of cheerleaders who were dancing to the Fourth Avenue Cafe!

We’ve played many songs. And so you guys have listened to many songs right? So I think it’s time that you wanted to dance! Can you dance? CAN YOU DANCE KOKURITSU-?? I’m going to dance. Ladies from The Planets, let's go!! (ken-chan swaps his guitar for some gold pompoms and dances, leg-kicking and all! Apparently they were beautifully in time too lol! After some dancing he takes his guitar again) Gosh I’m tired... Um, I’m going to play my guitar now, but I want the rest of Kokuritsu to keep dancing! (audience: yaay) But you’re not dancing!! (audience start to dance like crazy) That’s better. Can you do it?? Can you do it?? Can you give us everything you’ve got? Let’s go! SEVENTH! HEAVEN!!

11. SEVENTH HEAVEN
12. C'est La Vie (with tetsuya bass solo)
13. いばらの涙
14. Shout at the Devil

-Encore- (substage)
15. Anata

hyde: Yaay! It’s sooo beautiful. You, all of you, you’re all beautiful. Chuuu (blows kisses through microphone). Can we do another song? Ok... winterfall.

16. winter fall

Back to the main stage
17. NEO UNIVERSE
18. CHASE
19. XXX
20. Link

-testuya MC-
FOOOOO!!!!! FOFOOOO!! WASSHOOOI! WASSHOOOI!!! OGENKI-?? How are you all?? People of Japan, Ogenki- (in foreigner-like broken Japanese)??? Egg!!! DO YOU WANT TO EAT MY BANANAAA? ORRR, DO YOU WANT TO LICK MY LOLLIPOOOP?? Nice catch!! Can you do it??? There’s the rest of the song to go, but do you want to listen to it??? Really?? Did you gozonji (know) that we’re still in the middle of sooong?? WASSHOOOI!!! Let’s goo!!!!

-hyde MC-
Yaaaay! It feels so good. I think we’re so lucky to be able to play at such a wonderful place, right at the end. I’ve got a great view from here – there’s even a fire at the top (looking at the Olympic flame which was lit for the occasion). It really, really feels good. Yaay! We say 20 years, but it’s actually nearly 21 years. Sorry guys, sorry we’ve lasted for so long (laugh). It’s another 3 days, 3 days to go. Thank you! Erm... I’ve been thinking what we were doing around now, 20 years ago – I guess we were just about to come to Tokyo?

tetsuya: Really?

hyde: Yeah, probably when we were giving out videos at Loft.

tetsuya: Ahhh, the ones we were giving out for free.

hyde: It’s probably about the time we had finished giving them out. Wasn’t it around the time that our first guitarist left?

tetsuya: Ahhh that must mean that it’s nearly the 20th year anniversary for ken-chan!

hyde: he’s already on standby! (kenchan smiling) Exactly 20 years ago ken-chan was probably just going to university as usual – little did he know that soon, his world gets turned upside down!

It’s amazing, after 20 years, having done our world tour, it felt like a year in which we managed to make a mark in history. We managed to do what only L’Arc could do, the way that L’Arc would do it – and we’re lucky to have been able to do that. Thank you.

As we went around the world, we noticed that even if everyone was of a different nationality, or religion, their smiles were all the same. There were fans who were crying with joy. Just like you guys today. That really left an impression on me and I found it remarkable. I’m sure it was much work for the staff, but because of that, I think we managed to reach out to all their hearts.

I think we played great lives in each of the places we went, and that it was memorable for all the fans around the world. I think the band will continue together in the future, so please support L’Arc~en~Ciel. We’ve nothing planned next, but let’s play again together. Thank you. Our final song, Niji.

21. 虹 (with some rainbow coloured balloons!)

hyde: Thank you very much! When we come back, please come out and play with us. Be good/behave while you wait for us! Thank you!!

And our usual banana throwing action from tecchan – but today, even yukkie was throwing bananas!! Apparently at the end, he came and was dancing around, moving from one side of the stage to the other, throwing water bottles, waving at the audience, and doing some Doara like moves (lol). Then tecchan handed him a banana, they shook hands, and then he threw it into the audience!

tetsuya: Thank you!! Thank you very much. Thank you for all your continuing support – til now and from now on! See you again!!!

************************************
I think the overall mood for these 2 days was really 'like a festival' - as if the members didn't want to make it feel too much like a 'final' to make their fans sad :) So let's all behave until they next come back!!!

...oh yes, and we do still have Hawaii - I will try and get as much info on that, but because not that many fans are going, it may take more time than usual (plus it's a weekday!), but stay tuned!!!
